應外系系學會
由於本系隸屬管理學院，課程架構中一向有一定比例之管理及商務相關科目。近年來，為配合學生升學及就業之需求，本系積極發展以奠定學生堅強外（英）語基礎為目標之課程，培育具備英文聽、說、讀、寫能力之外（英）語人才，並透過多元的必選修課程與專業模組，培養具專業外（英）語素養之人才，包括文學或語言學研究、英語教學、翻譯，以及商業貿易外語等領域。
換言之，本系兼顧學生升學及就業兩大方向，除核心課程著重於外（英）語聽說讀寫能力之均衡發展，以及文學、語言學與英語教學之專業訓練外，應用課程亦強調實務導向與社會需求接軌，期望透過多元文化與國際化教育，培養兼具人文素養與專業實務能力之應用外語人才。

The department emphasized language communication skills and literature courses. As the world continues moving toward globalization and internationalization, industries increasingly require professionals with strong language expertise. Therefore, the department changed its name in 1998 to the Department of Applied Foreign Languages.
Currently, the department aims to cultivate students with excellent English listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities, while also developing professional knowledge in different fields. Through various required and elective courses, students are trained to become business professionals with strong language competence, qualified English teachers, translators, interpreters, and researchers in language-related fields.
In addition, the department emphasizes both academic development and practical application, combining multicultural education with professional training to prepare students for further studies and future careers in a globalized society.
